Memorial Day at the pool

Josh & I are relaxing at the pool for awhile. He's in there somewhere.

I'm not quite sold on the idea of wearing my swimsuit just yet. And I don't think our community deserves it just yet either!

All I can think of is the delicious crockpot full of bacon baked beans that are waiting for us at home, along with Johnny's delicious BBQ!

Our big plans for the Memorial Day weekend ~~

We plan on doing a lot of this....Miss Peanut has the right idea.

A BBQ of spicy burgers and grilled sweet corn.

A pitcher of margaritas.

Or two.

Walking the dogs.

Reading piles of magazines in our deck chairs.

Another nappy.

A movie with my sweetheart.

Takeout from Chipotle.

Walking the dogs.

Then another nappy.

A pitcher of margaritas.

Or two.

Trying to walk the dogs.

Margarita.

The dogs walk themselves.

Leftover BBQ.

Movie.

Nappy.

Margarita.

Or two.

Where are the dogs anyway?

Doing much better this afternoon

See? She's okay. Just a bit groggy. And sneezy. She just sleeps all day in her little cubby hole.

Poor thing. All doped up on Benadryl so that her throat can heal without her coughing and irritating it even more. Can I have some too, Minnie Mouse?

Photobucket

Minnie had a bad day

My poor little Minnie Mouse

The only reason I took this pic is because at this point she was coming out of anethesia and "swimming" with her legs, making funny squeaking noises, acting drunk off her butt and look at her tongue! It got pretty crazy. At this point in the day she was okay. I was more worried about Johnny passing out. He lost all color to his face. He's not one for hospitals....that's putting it mildly.

To make a long story short, Minnie Mouse (who my sister calls "Farah" because of her winged, big, girly, crazy hair) was outside with me. While I chatted with a neighbor she started chewing on grass (and we are thinking some bark) and all of sudden started choking.

A long blade of grass was still stuck down her throat so naturally I pulled it out ~ which the Dr. said made "cuts" in her throat because edges of grass are sharp like knives.

So her throat swelled up and she couldn't breathe. Along with who knows what she was choking on, everything compounded and thank God there are emergency vets. And than God there are American Express cards.

But that was our day. That little Minnie. She had me up from 1-4 am, needing meds and now she is sneezing continuously. I guess she's trying to get something out. If a piece of bark flies out of Farrah's nose, I'll let you know. I'm kinda hoping it will....

......aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Josh came home last night. He was supposed to be gone for 2 days, but he and his Army recruiter have to go handle some of Josh's "business" today so that HOPEFULLY on Tuesday we can do this routine all over again. Because I'm not crazy enough. I'm not anxious enough. I'm not GRAY enough.

Thank you American Express cards. Thank you hair dye.

I'm not going to carry on and on about what's going on in our family today.

Photobucket

But it concerns this young man.

Photobucket

My heart and my soul.

Photobucket

The boy I love most in the entire world. The boy with Edward Cullen hair.

Photobucket

He's leaving today for 2 days. But not without his gallon of water & a cooler full of healthy snacks!

Did this child get switched at birth??

Photobucket

Hee-hee.

Photobucket

Josh doesn't give up. I love that about him!

Go Josh, GO!

I can't wait to shout the news out to everyone.

Photobucket

But not today. Friday, I promise...fingers crossed. I don't want to jump the gun.

Again....

We've had a stressful week and when Josh finally got on the road today I freaked.

Five minutes, that's all. A tiny freakout session now and then is good for the soul.

As long as you have your sister on the phone with you....

An hour later I got a text message that simply read, "love you mom"

That put everything in its place.

It made everything worth it.

Photobucket

I'll be at home for 2 days wringing my hands & waiting for his return.

Alright...and drinking a few pitchers of margaritas with Johnny, but whatever.

I'm {{{praying}}} that everything works out in Josh's favor ~ for once.

We deserve some good news around here dontcha think?!?

So last night I said, "Joshie! Show me your war face!
C'mon, show me your WAR FACE!" (from one of his favorite movies)

Photobucket

GGGgggggrrrrrrrr!

I'm ticked that the pic is out of focus.

It's due to the fact that I was laughing so hard, so I guess that's ok.

I'm in love with this kid, he makes me laugh.

Photobucket

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  This is the reason I do everything ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I'll fill you in on Friday. Keep Josh in your prayers, please.

HOOAH!

Josh has made a very important decision today.

We've been on pins and needles for 2 weeks now and today we got THE phone call we've been anxiously waiting for. Can you guess? I'll tell you on Thursday, I don't want to jinx it.....it will be official then....stay tuned!

Photobucket

And a billion thanks go out to my sister and her hubby!

We have logged about a 40 hours on the phone over this...

Sissy, you have been MY ROCK (get it?) -------> hint hint

Before I shut down for the weekend.....Feast your eyes!

TA-DAaa!!  Johnny's masterpiece!

Supper was Deeeeeeee-lish!

Johnny, you're the MAN!

Photobucket
I want to wish my niece, Miss M, a HAPPY FIELD DAY today!

Have fun, cutie pie! I love you! Hope you beat all the boys in tug of war.

(And don't forget to hit your mommy with a water balloon!)

If you repeat this I'll plead the 5th ammendment.

Photobucket

Don't worry, you'll learn about the 5th someday...

It's a good one, hee-hee. Especially on field day.

Have the time of your life you precious little thing xoxo

Happy Friday everyone! I won't be blogging over the weekend ~ I plan on a Friday night BBQ complete with margaritas with my Johnny (J has a date), a relaxing family day on Saturday with both my boys, hopefully catching a movie (Iron Man 2 or a Chick Flick ~ who will win?) then out to eat, and going to a jewelry party with Mama Kay on Sunday. I know.....just what I needed....jewelry. Shoot me.

See ya on Monday, be safe!!

AFTER...................

Remember how my kitchen lighting was before:

Photobucket

1984 ceiling fan, disco globe light and a random hook sticking out of the ceiling...for 6 years.

Don't. Get. Me. Started.

Photobucket

Fluorescent light box courtesy of the Exxon gas station.

Photobucket

The hall/entry and dining room have already been painted, now we get to do the kitchen.

Photobucket

Another look....

Photobucket

Different view...

(P.S. We just ordered a 22" flat screen TV that will be mounted on the wall above where the old little fat one is now - by the tiny lamp fixture - I'll have to take down that platter)

Photobucket

That's Tyler. I like Tyler. He was kind, handsome, entertaining and BEST of all....

Photobucket

....he knew how to remove one of the ugliest ceiling fans ever. He's my new hero.

Photobucket

And he knew how to hang my pretty new light fixture over where my round table will be.

Photobucket

AAAAaaannnd.....he took down my fluorescent light box! I'm going to have a song written about him.

"Tyler is tight! Took down my ugly light! Do-wop, Do-wop, Do-wop"

Photobucket

This is Mr. Bill....who's kinda in the way of my camera. Achem....excuuuuuse me.

Okay, so he's not perfect. But he does cover and protect my floors.

Photobucket

I just threw this in the mix because Piper is cute and I love her.

Photobucket

So, back to Mr. Bill. He's putting 5" pasties on my ceiling.

(Trying not to giggle. I'm very mature)

Photobucket

They are so that Mr. Bill will know where to cut the drywall for my can lights.

Photobucket

See? Like that.

Photobucket

And that. There's my first light!

Photobucket

And the random hook is gone! Tyler is amazing, isn't he? Johnny? Isn't he?

Does the light work? That is the question.

Photobucket

YES! It works! No fire! We're making progress.

Photobucket

Time to get the rest of those can lights in. C'mon. I'm anxious.

Photobucket

They're finished!!

Ready?

Set?

Wanna See?

Ready?

Sorry....I said that already....

Photobucket

And he said, "Let there be light." That's a famous quote from Mr. Bill.

Photobucket

The lights really warmed the entire room. My cabinets are golden now, not green.

Photobucket

So are my floors and the countertops glow. I wish I'd have done this years ago.

Photobucket

Tyler & Mr. Bill also gave me separate dimmer switches so that I can create ambiance.

Fancy word for "moooooooooood."

Watch out, Johnny. There will be plenty of ambiance in our kitchen from now on.

RAAAWRRR!

Photobucket

Speaking of....

"HI! I'm Johnny and I don't even want to know how much this cost!"

Photobucket

And this is how it ended up. Everything crammed in the dining room. Even my kitchen island. Hhhmmmm.....looks like I could use better lighting out here too..... DOH!

So this coming Wednesday I have a dry wall repair man coming to fix the holes and paint the ceiling a crisp new white. That will really brighten things up and complete the project once and for all.

I could't be happier with the way things turned out and I will never show Johnny the invoice. There are some things a man should never see. Keeps a smile on his face. On his "not green anymore face." On his "warm new lighting" face. See how that works? (He loves the lighting, too).
